Your Calories Count

One of the key strategies to maintaining your ideal weight or to lose those excess pounds/kilos is to keep track of your calories count. Even a small excess daily can add up to a significant amount to your weight in the medium to long term. Your choice of food and drinks is crucial to your belly line.

Everyone of us needs different amount of calories daily. This could also vary on a daily basis depending on your work schedule and what you do. Assuming you need 2,000 calories today and you shot pass the goal by consuming 2,300 calories, you have to find some ways to get rid of it. Otherwise, it will add to your weight count and over time, result in obesity!

When you exceed your calories intake, try to burn it off the natural way. Instead of taking a drive to your grocery shop, take a bus instead. Try to stop one or two stops before your destination and take a casual stroll to reach where you want to go. For those who work or live on higher floor, try the stairs instead of taking the elevator. You will be surprised how much weight you could lose if done regularly.

These days, I try to cut smaller portions of my dinner and make it a habit to eat before eight in the evening. By having your dinner earlier before you retire for bed will give more time for your meal to digest and burn off calories faster. Having late dinner or supper on a regular basis is one sure recipe for weight gain and obesity.

Try to avoid emotional eating like binging on unhealthy snacks. Avoid buying them in the first place at the supermarket. This will not only save you money in terms of your grocery bills, but slashing your medical budget as well - not to mention the health and well-being of your body to enjoy. If you must binge on snacks, try the healthier choice with less salt, oil and sugar. Generally, fruits, vegetables and whole grains have lower calories and higher fibre than cheese, chips and chocolates.

Not only you need to watch your calories count, you need to keep track of what you eat as well. If you tend to crave for a certain food, indications are that you might have developed an allergy for the food you craved for. The yeast or fungi in your body are craving for the very food you consumed!

The late Dr. Atkins developed a radical weight-loss program with particular emphasis on consuming animal protein and avoiding carbohydrates, especially the refined carbs. However, such diet is high in animal fats and toxins (as most animals are commercially breed) that will increase inflammation and will greatly increae your calories count.
