Tame Type2 Diabetes Without Drugs
By Diabetics Portal
How many times have you left your doctors office with a new prescription? Always the excuse that the last pill was not working and lets try this new pill. After awhile you start to feel like a lab rat. Your medicine cabinet at home is starting to look like isle four at your local Target store. With all the new medication that is on the market or in clinical studies you start to wonder if there will ever be the right pill just for you. Chances are not in this life time.

Being a diabetic myself, I have been bounced from one drug to the next. Each time the doctor claiming that this pill will be better for you. Could it be that the drug manufactures are paying doctors to push their new drugs? Over time I have started to think that maybe, just maybe, I could control my without the help of drugs. With a little searching for information and some serious will power I have begun my mission to become drug free.

When I was first diagnoses with type 2 my A1C was at 12.2. I was put on 500mg of Metformin three times per day. The first two weeks were horrible. With stomach cramps and a huge case of diarrhea I spent most of my time in the bathroom. Just one common side effect of the new drug I had been prescribed. I almost thought having wasn’t half as bad as having to take this pill. It was then that I decided that I could control this disease on my own.

Learning everything I could about type 2 , I created a plan. The first basic concept to controlling was to simply not eat anything with sugar in it. That was simple, no soda, candy , cakes ect. What else Could I do? I found a copy of the glycemic index. A chart that shows just about every type of food and the amount of sugar and carbohydrates per serving. I found the foods that I ate often. Pasta, Potato, and Rice, they were at the top of the index for being the worst foods to eat for a diabetic. So I made up a little slogan to remind myself of these three foods that were now off limits to me. “PRP will kill me!” Now when ever I had a craving for one of these foods I would repeat that little saying in my head till the craving would pass. You might think that seems a little silly but it works for me.

One month into my little study I took myself to just two doses

of Metformin per day. At my next doctor visit, my A1C was down to 7.0. My doctor said “ Looks like the pills are working for you.” I never told him I was only at two doses per day.

I needed some more weapons in my arsenal. I started to jog 2 miles everyday. Not only did I start feeling much healthier, I also started to look better as well. My weight was going down as were my blood sugar levels. I decided then that I would decrease my metformin to only one dose per day. I chose to take that pill with my dinner as it was the largest meal of the day for me. I continued to reach my goals. I was eating a healthy diet and actually liking what I was eating. The exercise was doing wonders and I had lost over 65 pounds. Three months later I had my next doctor visit. A1C was down to 5.2, holy cow a A1C of a normal person without diabetes. My doctor said he wanted to take me down to just 2 doses of metformin per day. That was when I had told him that I had only been on one dose for over two months. He was very satisfied with the results that I had made. He also agreed that when I thought I was ready to stop the last dose, I should make that decision myself.

That day has not came yet. I still have diabetes, and a little more work ahead of myself before I become drug free. That great thing that I learned from this was that I can do it. I really can live with and not use any medication to control it. That is my final goal. Will power has been my strongest asset. As well as learning what foods to eat. There is a book I read called “How to Fight Type2 and Win!” . Written by Patrick Lecky. This book inspired me and taught me what healthy food really was. I highly recommend it to any diabetics with Type to diabetes. You can get this book at http://hoov7472.dwarrior.hop.clickbank.net
