Walt Disney World opened its doors to the public on July 17th, 1955. The brainchild of Walt Disney himself, the park was designed to take over where Disney Land left off. It is located about 20 miles south of the city of Orlando and covers 43 square miles. The park opening was one of the largest media events ever and people soon saw that the park would live up to the hype. The original Magic Kingdom was made up of Main Street USA, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tommorrowland. Since that time the park has continued to expand with the addition of New Orlenas Square, Critter Country, Toontown as well as many additions and improvements to the original areas. It is a park that is ever changing which makes people want to come back again and again. In addition to the Magic
Kingdom you also have EPCOT, MGM Studios and the Animal Kingdom. Disney World is really four parks in one. Besides the parks you also have hotels, water parks, camp grounds and restaurants. It is basically a city by itself where visitors can find anything they want or need in one place. This makes for an easy stress free vacation for anyone no matter what your age or whether you have children or not. It is truly the happiest place on earth.
