Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a general chronic condition. There is extensive musculoskeletal ache, tiredness, and multiple tender points -- tenderness in precise localized region, mostly in the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips. People with fibromyalgia also have sleep disturbances, morning stiffness, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), anxiety, and other symptoms. Women are more affected than men.
Cymbalta seems to be useful in treating the sy
mptoms related to fibromyalgia in case of women, but not in men. Cymbalta gives relief from both the mental and physical symptoms that are related with depression. Cymbalta is a trade name for a medicine called duloxetine. It is listed under a class of drugs known dual uptake inhibitors . It is actually an antidepressant. Interestingly it is SNRI (serotonin and noradrenalin uptake inhibitor) of which only Effexor was the only FDA standard drug it that class until now.
Eli Lilly and Company, the consent of which finally has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, recently manufactures Cymbalta. Cymbalta is now FDA-approved for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy pain (DPNP), as well as major depression.
Cymbalta targets two chemical messengers in the human body, serotonin and nor-epinephrine, which are the key factors for both depression and pain perception.
The signs of fibromyalgia can overlap with autoimmune sickness and other musculoskeletal syndromes making it difficult to diagnose. The defining symptoms of fibromyalgia are often related with other subjective and objective symptoms, which crop up in combination. It is assumed that fibromyalgia attacks about 2 percent of the U.S. population.
There is no exact treatment for fibromyalgia. Combinations of signs can occur which overlap with other autoimmune syndromes. There are signs, which are assumed "defining" of fibromyalgia. There are also symptoms believed to be "non-defining" but they often arise as part of fibromyalgia syndrome.
