Natural Remedies For Sinus Allergy

by Evelyn Lim

Sinus allergy is a very common illness, which fortunately is not life threatening in most cases. However, its symptoms can wear you down especially if you do not know the source of your allergens. Certain drugs can also cause drowsiness or other side effects. You may wish to consider natural remedies for sinus allergy, as safer alternatives to provide relief.

You may often find that you need to stay in bed when your sy

mptoms become severe. Some of the most common symptoms that you may have to contend with include sneezing, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, and more. Here are a few examples of natural remedies for sinus allergy:

1. Licorice. Licorice has two main healing properties that are highly beneficial in treating chronic sinusitis. It aids in reducing inflammation and it strengthens the immune system. You can easily obtain licorice herbs from your local herbal store.

2. Echinacea. This natural remedy for sinus allergy works by boosting your immune system. It is most effective when you take it as soon as you begin to feel the illness coming on. You can consume this in the form of a herbal tea. Alternatively, to ensure that you get maximum strength, you can take Echinacea capsules.

3. Ginger. Ginger is a spice that is commonly found in most kitchens. It is anti-inflammatory that is used to help treat headaches and other pain. I highly recommend ginger tea as a beverage that you can take. In fact, drinking hot ginger tea is a practice common in many Asian countries. You can order ginger tea at any local coffee shop in Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia.

4. Peppermint. Peppermint is helpful in reducing inflammation and is especially helpful in reducing the inflammation of mucous membranes. Drinking a tea of peppermint or breathing in steam from a peppermint inhalation can clear your nose so that you can rest more peacefully.

5. Lemon Balm. Lemon balm is a natural remedy for sinusitis as it is known for fighting off viruses and bacteria and providing relief. Lemon balm tea is the normal way to ingest it.

6. Antioxidants. Foods that are high in antioxidants can help strengthen your immune system and they can help your body to fight illnesses naturally. These foods are cranberries, blueberries, pomegranates, artichokes, and red beans. Ensuring that your diet is comprised more of such foods can help you to prevent sinus infections.

Since incorporating some of the above natural remedies for sinus allergy into my diet, I have found that I am less prone to developing runny nose symptoms. These are far better than using drug medications since natural remedies produce fewer side effects. One great thing is also that some of these natural remedies can already be found in the kitchen cabinet. It is certainly true that the kitchen can be your pharmacy for allergies as well!
