Groovy Babe Productions Presents Designed To Cure Fashion Week Benefit New York City, NY (ContentDesk) August 10, 2004 -- On September 9, 2004, at 7 pm, at The Loft at 47 West Street in New York City, Groovy Babe productions will present Designed to Cure, a Fashion Week event to benefit cancer research. Operating under the slogan "Fashion Fighting Cancer", this unique event is part fashion show, part trunk show and is an opportunity for fashionistas to shop at 40% off retail for a worthy cause. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased online at www.groovybabe.com. A portion of the proceeds of the sales will be donated to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at John Hopkins."Thousands of people succumb to cancer every year leaving friends and families to cope with their loved ones fight against a deadly disease," says Sonji Robinson, founder of Groovy Babe. A stylist and fashion consultant who has styled artists such as Conya Doss and R&B Duo Kindred the Family Soul, Robinson has previously worked in top fashion houses -- including Polo Ralph Lauren -- for over 10 years. She conceived Design to as a way to use her profession to honor her father, whom she lost to cancer in 2003.She adds that she believes that Designed to is poised to become a large annual event that draws a diverse audience. The event designers and planners for Designed to are Liz Ngonzi's Amazing Taste! Events, along with Paulette Robinson owner of PauletteRobinson Weddings and Events. According to Ngonzi, the theme for the Designed to fashion show and shopping fundraiser centers around a chocolate body form around whose waist a pink bow is tied. The body form is symbolic of the fashion aspect of the event and the pink bowtie symbolizes the cancer research that the event is designed to support. This theme is carried through from the bow-tied invitations, to the pink and brown web site at www.groovybabe.com, to the pink and brown decor and finally to the pink and brown keepsake bags that will be given to all attendees. When guests arrive at The Loft at 47 West Street, they will enter a large airy loft in which baby pink and chocolate brown satin coved tables will each display miniature body forms tied at the waist with pink ribbon. Six life-size body forms loaned by Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation and decorated by each designer will be displayed throughout the space to give the guests a sneak peak into the fashion show. The room will be lit in warm track lighting and spotlights to give a feel of excitement and glamour. Guests will then feast on sumptuous hors d'oeuvres from Justin's Restaurant and sip wine donated by KWV South African wines. A special area will be cordoned off for VIPs, along with the assignment of service staff to attend to their
needs.Designers interested in participating in the event should contact Sonji Robinson at e-mail protected from spam bots.Companies wishing to come on board as a sponsor should contact Taneshia Nash Laird at e-mail protected from spam bots.About the ProducersDesigned to is the creation of Groovy Babe Productions, a style and imaging consulting firm founded by Sonji Robinson.
