Snoring as an Indicator to more Serious condition
by Soli Katir
If you still have difficulty falling and staying asleep, make sure you see a physician because insomnia can be triggered by physiological conditions such as sleep apnea, menopause or depression. In addition, many cases of acid reflux, sleep apnea, and diabetes have either had the symptoms reduced or completely disappear while on the Atkins diet. In some cases, patients suffer from a combination of both types of sleep apnea.
Snoring is most frequently an indicator of a more serious condition, Obstructive Sleep Apnea. You awaken from a sound sleep screaming or trying to fight Primary Sleep Disorders. There are four primary sleep disorders: Apnea Obstructive sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening disorder. Being overweight can increase the risk of sleep apnea, which will prevent a restful night's sleep.
Not everyone who snores has sleep apnea and there are people with sleep apnea that do not know they snore. And, it may be a symptom of sleep apnea or the things that cause the loud snoring may get worse & also lead to sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is the cessation of breathing lasting at least 10 seconds during sleep, characterized by loud snoring and labored breathing.
I was watching television one evening and saw a fat guy who was treated for Sleep Apnea. This is a surgical treatment for sleep apnea. Did you know that 2% of female and 4% of males diagnosed with a mild case of sleep apnea stop breathing at least ten times per hour.
In the last few days I discovered a new way to treat sleep apnea. The Most Common Sleep Disorders * Insomnia: Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep on a regular basis with no apparent cause; un-refreshed sleep despite ample opportunity to sleep * Sleep apnea: Common sleep disorder in which people stop breathing for brief periods throughout the night; the most common symptoms are loud snoring, choking or gasping during sleep, and excessive daytime sleepiness * Restless legs syndrome (RLS): Common disorder in which "unpleasant" feelings in the legs (and sometimes arms) cause an almost irresistible urge to move the limbs; symptoms make it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep * Narcolepsy: Excessive daytime sleepiness with muscle weakness and/or falling asleep at inappropriate times and places; some people also experience sleep paralysis (temporary inability to move when falling asleep or waking) and vivid, often frightening dreams.
