Texas Holdem Strategy - Top 5 Online Poker Tells
By Micheal Thorn
So you think because your playing online cards that there are no tells? In online cards, the key to a players tells lies in the speed of their call. How fast or slow a player acts online can speak more about there game than any physical tell that you would see in person. Depending on the type of player and how fast they act you can often tell how strong a hand they have.

Instant bet or raise (early Position)

When a player bets quickly in early position its usually because they have a strong hand and have already know what to do before the action gets to them.

The Quick Call

When a player calls your bet very quickly, they are typically trying to represent a more powerful hand than they actually have. They are hoping this will frighten you into not betting the next round so they will get to more cards. Often a player that calls your first bet quickly and then checks on fourth street (4th card) will take a stab at the pot after all the cards have been dealt. This is a great way to trap a loose player.

The Instant Bet or Raise on the River

Be very reluctant to call this bet. Nine times out of ten the player that instant raises on the river is packing extreme heat. He is trying to make you think that he is bluffing at the pot. If you raise this player be ready to go all in or show an extremely strong hand.

Instant Check

In early position a player that checks instantly may have a strong hand and is checking to see what type of action the table will produce. Be careful if you are in the late position and a person in the early position

re-raises you. Unlike a fast check from the front position, one in the late position translates into a weak hand.

Slow Check

A slow check almost always represents weakness. The player wants you to think that he is considering raising to prevent you from betting in hopes of seeing more cards.

Hopefully these tells will give you a better understanding of online poker and you may be able to implement them into your online poker game.
