Alternative Treatments For Hyperthyroidism
by Charlene J. Nuble
If your body produces an excess of thyroid hormones, then you have an overactive thyroid gland, and you have hyperthyroidism or what is commonly called Graves Disease. Hyperthyroidism is treated conventionally through the use of drugs, radioactive iodine, or even surgery. However, because such methods can be expensive, people often seek alternative treatments for hyperthyroidism.
Alternative treatments f
or hyperthyroidism will not be as expensive. This is because hyperthyroidism happens because of a bad diet and stress; doing the exact opposite entails cleansing one's body, modifying the diet, and doing a lot of exercise. One alternative treatment is laughter therapy, which is simply ridding the body of stress by laughing! They continue with a cleansing program, which is designed to rid the body of toxins through the use of colonic irrigation as well a high fiber diet. In this process, it is hoped that the kidneys and liver will be cleansed
Physical activity is also important. Not only does exercise relieve stress, it can also make the body more flexible, help a person lose weight, and aid in flushing out toxins. Such exercise routines will borrow from tai chi, yoga, martial arts, gymnastics, stretching, and swimming. After exercise, sweating, such as in a sauna or tea drinking, is also a good way to rid the body of toxins.
These are only a few alternative treatments for hyperthyroidism. If you are interested in them, talk to your health care practitioner. There are many more different kinds of treatment which you can tailor-fit with your lifestyle and budget.
